Kenya has so much to offer the visitor, that it is unsurprising that so many people visit every year. Kenya has it all - wildlife, mountains, sandy beaches, lakes and rivers. Kenya is also a country filled with rich tribal culture. If you’re looking at booking your holiday destination somewhere a little further afield, Kenya is likely to tick the most discerning of travellers boxes.

This article aims to highlight in more detail the many reasons why you should consider Kenya as a holiday destination.

Accommodation
There is a huge range of accommodation available in Kenya. You could stay on an exclusive camp whilst on safari or relax in luxury at one of the Masai Mara hotels and lodges. Much of the accommodation is family friendly and is available to suit all budgets.

Safari
Kenya offers the classic safari experience and you’re likely to see most of the wildlife on your bucket list. Big cats in the Masai Mara, giraffes, zebras and wildebeest in the grassy savannah regions are the animals that frequent storybooks! You may get the opportunity to book a water safari, where you may spot a swimming elephant.

If you choose to visit in July or August you will get the opportunity to see the migration of millions of wildebeest across the Serengeti. A truly spectacular sight.

Mount Kilimanjaro
Kenya is home to part of the largest mountain in Africa, the other part of Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania. It is a dormant volcano standing 5,895 meters above sea level. Every year many people attempt to climb to its summit, but at least a third fail. There are parts of Kilimanjaro that are easily accessible and if you explore and climb to one of the observation areas you will be treated to one of the best views you will ever experience.

Beaches
Most people travel to Kenya solely to go on safari, however, the beaches are also wonderful. Kenya’s shoreline is protected by coral reef teaming with wildlife. Watersports and diving are a favourite pastime. You could consider booking a two centre vacation by going on safari in the first week and relaxing on the beach for the second.

Culture and tradition
Kenya is home to many different cultures stemming from the Mombasa and Kisumu regions. Experiencing the different tribal traditions is culturally enlightening for the young and old. The people of Kenya are friendly and welcoming in the whole.

The weather
As Kenya is located on the equator the weather remains pretty constant year round. There is a short rainy season from March to May, but most of the rainfall is at night. If rainfall is heavy there is the potential for roads and camps to be closed. The temperature remains hot all year round, so pack light coloured, cool and comfortable clothing. Surprisingly you will need to pack warmer clothes for early morning or nightime safaris, as the temperature drops considerably. You will also need warm layers if you are intending on climbing Kilimanjaro.

Kenya is a fantastic destination and you won’t be disappointed with what it has to offer.
