Contributed Post – It is always so much easier to keep a healthy routine in the summer, isn’t it? There is more fresh fruit and veg on the supermarket shelves. The longer days mean that you have more time to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. The better weather means that it is easier to convince yourself to go out for a job or some other form of exercise. But when the autumn starts coming in, we need a bit of an extra push to keep ourselves in good shape.
If you are feeling the need for a nudge to start a healthier routine for your physical health (and your mental health too), here are some tips to point you in the right direction.

Make A Schedule
A good routine does not come out of thin air. If you want to make sure that your new approach is going to stick, you need to make sure that you have a good battle plan in place. While this may sound a little condescending, especially if you are the kind of person who has been through all this before. But if you want to make sure that you are committing to this properly, then creating a clear routine with set times, realistic goals and so forth will keep you on track when things get shaky.

Find A Gym That Works For You
If you want to make sure that you are staying on top of your fitness goals, then finding a gym or fitness centre that suits your personality and your approach is going to be key. This is especially true as the weather starts to worsen, and the lure of the duvet and comfort food becomes stronger.
A good fitness centre is not just about having a personal trainer screaming at you to work harder and push through the pain. It’s about having trained professionals who will work with you to establish your goals and to figure out a plan that you can keep to that will actually last. If you are looking for a personal trainer or a fitness group, GDN Fitness in Chalfont St Peters will create a tailored fitness strategy to suit your lifestyle. Your first class is free, and they offer small group classes too.

Make A Diet Plan
Of course, a healthy lifestyle is not just about exercising. We do not need to tell you how easy it is to let your good eating habits slip at this time of year, and that is especially true right now when there is so much in the news to be stressed about, from petrol shortages to climate change.
A great way to start is by making a weekly meal plan, which will help to cut out any last-minute takeaways. Think about what recipes you can make with leaner meats such as chicken, or oily fish. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, make sure you are getting plenty of iron and protein from leafy vegetables and other mineral-rich foods. Try to replace snacks with dried fruit or vegetables, and remember that cutting down on, or cutting out, alcohol will make a huge difference as it is filled with empty calories. If cutting your wine or beer out entirely feels like too big a challenge right now, try to have at least one day a week without it and work from there.
