This is a contributed post. When you think of traditions, you might imagine grand gestures, lavish holidays, or fancy dinners at expensive restaurants. If you want to make your wife happy (or husband), then that’s what you need to do, right? Well, not exactly. In fact, here’s the thing: the best traditions are often the simplest, sweet little traditions with your partner.

They’re those little rituals you and your partner create that make your relationship uniquely yours. They’re not about spending loads of money or planning elaborate events—they’re about the everyday moments that bring you closer together.

Why Little Traditions Matter

Little traditions are like the glue that holds relationships together. They’re the things you look forward to, even when life gets chaotic. Whether it’s a silly inside joke, a specific spot in the park where you always walk the dog, or a favourite song you play every Sunday morning while you’re still in your pyjamas, these small rituals help create a sense of belonging and togetherness. Plus, they give you something to smile about, even on the toughest days.

Start Simple By Finding Your Everyday Rituals

One of the easiest ways to start a tradition is by doing something you both enjoy. Yep, it’s just that simple! So, it doesn’t have to be groundbreaking—just something that brings a little joy to your week.

For example, making homemade pizzas is your choice, whether you want this to be elaborate or not, but the goal is just something small. There’s just something satisfying about rolling out the dough, getting the toppings, and just binge-watching your favourite show together while feasting on your creations. Again, this is just an example.

Speaking of binge-watching and another idea? Well, you can choose a show you only watch together. No sneaky episodes on your own! It might sound simple, but it’s these kinds of rituals that give you something to share and talk about. Every time you sit down to watch, you’re reminded that this is your thing, something you do as a team.

Don’t Forget the Special Occasions

While the focus is on small, everyday traditions, it’s also important not to overlook the bigger moments, like your wedding anniversary. These are perfect opportunities to add a little something special into your routine. Yes, even when it comes to wedding anniversary gifts, there should be some sort of tradition tucked into it.

Sure, the gift is already going to be special thanks to the milestone, but it still helps to take it above. For example, on top of a gift, you and your partner can write a letter to each other each anniversary, or you both can go eat at the restaurant you both went to on your first date, it’s these little things really.

Make It Yours

At the end of the day, the best traditions are the ones that feel right for you as a couple. They don’t have to make sense to anyone else. They’re your inside jokes, your silly rituals, your sweet little moments that make your relationship unique. So go ahead, start small, and watch how these tiny traditions can make a big difference in your relationship.
