AD – Throughout the history of oral care, dentistry has been trying to find ways to provide sustainable oral hygiene. From using different substances such as salt, baking soda and vinegar to create a paste, to creating toothpaste that is environmentally friendly, many methods have been tried. It’s important to take care of your teeth and mouth so as to avoid any kind of oral health problems. One way to do this is by brushing every day and using a mouthwash. But what about the environment? Why is oral hygiene important?

Cleaning your tongue is also a massive part of keeping good oral hygiene. Most people forget about the tongue but it can make a massive difference. Sustainability can be achieved with sustainable development practices that are applicable at an individual, organizational, community or national level.

We are facing a global crisis because we cannot meet our needs without compromising the needs of others. This is when sustainability steps in. Sustainability provides us with a goal to work toward where we can live more sustainably without sacrificing our life quality or standards of living.

DenTek’s Sustainability Mission

DenTek has launched its own eco range which includes Earth Friendly Sustainable Birch Wood Interdental brushes. They are made from birch wood which creates less waste and uses less energy in the manufacturing process than other non-sustainable materials and is actually better than other sustainable rivals such as bamboo too. The wood absorbs less water which means the wire brush won’t split away from the handle. This is great because it will often be used in a wet environment such as the bathroom. Birch is known as a climate positive material as the trees work to reduce additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. DenTek also plants more trees than they use.

DenTek also has a wide range of other oral hygiene products such as floss picks, roll floss, tongue cleaners and scrapers. They are available to buy from Boots, Amazon, Waitrose, Ocado and through the DenTek website.
